Should the US intervene with the recent attack on Syria?

One of the most consistent issues that involves the US government is their overseas involvement. Some believe that they are far too involved, while others think that it could be even more involved. Due to recent events, the US government will once again face the difficult decision of whether they should get involved overseas or not.

On Tuesday April 4th, a small town in Syria was hit with a chemical gas attack. In the ABC news article that I found it states that so far there have been more than 80 deaths, including 30 children and 20 women. The most devastating part however, is that a single family, the Alyousefs lost 22 members of their family.

Due to the long outstanding civil war that is currently going on in Syria, the US and many other countries have accused Syria’s own president, Bashar Assad of being responsible for the attack. He and his Russian backers have denied the allegations.

Despite the recent attack being a major headline, gas attacks have become a regularity in Syria ever since the first chlorine gas attack happened in 2013. However this attack was with a new and much more deadly gas than chlorine. Due to this attack and the fact that the chemicals are becoming more advanced, it is becoming clear that some sort of intervention is necessary to help end this civil war that has been going on for the past 6 years.
