On Sunday evening October 1st, there was a major shooting at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. Dan Bilzarian was ex-military and thought he could help out when he first heard of the shooting, added an Instagram story. That is how many people found out about the shooting at first because you could hear it in the background of his story. Social media had a huge impact on this shooting since many people all over the world found out from different forms of social media. This shooting is now known as the deadliest modern U.S. shooting There was over 22,000 people attending the route 91 country music festival. A gunman, identified as a 64-year-old resident of Mesquite, Nevada, Stephen Paddock, who was the suspected person of interest involved in this crime. He opened fire on a music festival crowd from the 32nd floor at the resort casino. At least 59 people have been reported killed and the death toll is expected to rise. Over 527 people have been reported injured and that number is also expected to rise. One whiteness describes the shooting as hearing the sound of nonstop gunfire.
There is an airport located near the concert venue that many sought for safety. The Las Vegas McCarran International Airport said their fences were broken by people who were fleeing the scene. The staff at the airport transported those people to a designated evacuation site, where they were brought to safety to contact love ones and charge their phones. Others who were not as fortunate to reach safety and was still stuck in the concert venue, in addition to gunshot wounds were wounded by shrapnel and being trampled. Ambulances rushed to the scene and first responders were plugging wounds with their bare hands and clothing since suppliers were limited, just so they could stop people from bleeding to death. Stephen Paddock had no prior record except a prior minor citation. His family members are extremely shocked and as far as they knew he was fine. The motive of the attack is still unclear. Sixteen firearms were found in the shooters hotel room. There was a mixture of rifles and handguns found. It is not clear whether all the firearms were used. Ammunition and 10 suitcases were found in his room. I really wonder how no one thought he was being suspicious by bringing this to his room. Authorities responded to his room to find him dead. He committed suicide and killed himself before police entered the room. He took the coward way out and now no one will ever know why he committed this horrible crime and caused a major tragedy in Las Vegas.
