Being an international student globalization plays a key role in my life. My favorite comfort food is Maggi noodles, a simple ramen like noodles that are sold in my home country India. Maggi noodles are sold in India, made by a Swiss company Nestle but still available to me thousands of miles away. Another example would be of the TV shows I enjoy. Most of them are made in the USA for the American audience. Even so, all of them are broadcast the same week in India helping me stay update when I’m back home.
With the increase in globalization over the past ten years its become increasingly easier to stay in touch with your family and friends. Whatsapp and Viber have made it so easy for me to stay in constant touch with my family and friends in other countries for free. Earlier telephone costs were so great that my cousin who was studying in Germany was only able to afford to call home only a few times a week but services like Whatsapp and Viber have made it virtually cost free.
Globalization has had a positive effect on the United States economically. It has provided larger avenues for American corporations to sell their products through. It has aided American companies to expand into other markets driving the American economy upwards. Now Americans can take advantage of cheaper products and services such as outsourcing which works towards the betterment of quality of life for the average consumer.
